Machine Engraved Acrylic Architectural Model of Denver City Railway Company Building

This photo showcases a project where University of Colorado College of Architecture and Planning students, under the direction of Professor Julie Herdt,  used CNC technology to engrave the brick and stonework of the old Denver City Railway Company building onto acrylic. This process accurately represented the original wall’s overall thickness. Basswood is visible through the acrylic, forming the underlying structure. The base is crafted from recycled truck bed flooring, sourced from Dave McLoughlin at YCI Reclaimed Hardwood in Denver.
