Hangar doors & windows that light the whole building

When a new row of private hangars went up in Colorado the builder wanted door walls that do more than close. The bi-fold doors and the hangar windows are all glazed with Gallina ArcoPlus® 547,  a 40 mm, seven-wall modular polycarbonate panel. By day the hangars are flooded with soft, evenly diffused light, and by night the whole door glows like a lantern.

ArcoPlus 547 is the rare glazing that makes sense on a moving door: 500 mm interlocking modules run the full door height in one piece, the seven-wall structure insulates to a U-factor as low as 0.19, and at under a pound per square foot the bi-fold hardware barely notices it. Two-side UV protection keeps it looking new for decades, and hail that would crack glass bounces off. Colorado Plastics supplied the panels with the matching ArcoPlus aluminum profile system.

The owners park serious equipment behind these doors. No skylights to flash, no light fixtures running all day, no bank of windows to break.
