Densetec® Antimicrobial HDPE Sheet

Densetec® Antimicrobial is high-density polyethylene sheet (PE 300) with an antimicrobial agent compounded into the resin during manufacture rather than applied to the surface, so the protection lasts the life of the part and cannot be worn, scrubbed or machined away. The agent works by zone inhibition, suppressing the growth of bacteria, mould, fungus and algae on and around the surface; Polymer Industries cites studies showing certain product-damaging bacteria inhibited by 99%. The sheet is non-porous, so it absorbs little, resists odour and moisture, and cleans up with ordinary household disinfectant.

It is used where hygiene is part of the specification: medical and dental cabinetry, sterilisation centres, food service and food processing equipment, industrial cutting surfaces, and fixtures in schools and nursing homes. It machines and fabricates like any Densetec sheet and the colour runs through, so cut edges need no sealing. Note that the antimicrobial agent protects the product itself from bacterial degradation — it does not protect users from disease, and surfaces still need proper cleaning.
