Gallina PoliComp® Solid Polycarbonate Sheet

Gallina PoliComp® is solid, unfilled polycarbonate sheet, protected on both faces with co-extruded UV, so it holds clarity and strength in full exposure. Solid polycarbonate is effectively unbreakable in normal service — notched Izod impact of 17.98 ft-lb/in — while weighing about half what glass of the same thickness weighs, and it transmits 80–91% of visible light depending on gauge. Tensile strength at yield is 60 MPa with a tensile modulus of 2,350 MPa, and the sheet stays serviceable to a Vicat softening point of 295–304°F.

Stocked from 2mm (0.093") through 12mm (0.472"), with U-values from 0.99 down to 0.76 and sound reduction from 25 to 34 dB as the sheet gets thicker. It cold-curves to a published minimum bend radius — 11.81" at 2mm out to 66.93" at 12mm — and machines, drills and thermoforms with ordinary tooling. Typical uses are architectural glazing, canopies, skylights, barrel vaults, security and vandal-resistant glazing, and machine guarding. Water absorption is low at 0.15% in 24 hours, and the material is rated UL94 HB with an oxygen index of 26. Panels pair with the aluminium Poli-Lok® system for a concealed-fastener installation.
