PEEK CMF Ceramic Filled Plate

Polyetheretherketone

PEEK filled with silicate ceramic platelets, for precision machining rather than strength - it resists burr formation, drills micro holes under 0.1 mm and warps less when machined flat. The stiffest grade here at 1,227,111 psi modulus. White and grey have the same properties.

  • CMF is PEEK filled with silicate ceramic platelets, and it exists for precision machining rather than for strength or wear. The platelet shape resists burr formation, so machined parts often need no deburring at all; it drills micro holes below 0.1 mm with good hole-position accuracy and far less drill deflection and drill wear than fibre-reinforced PEEK; and the platelets lengthen the diffusion path through the wall, giving a useful permeation barrier. Extruded stock carries lower residual stress than moulded plate, so it stays flatter when machined to tolerance.

It is specified for IC test sockets, electronic test fixtures, thin contact plates and precision, semiconductor and vacuum components. Tensile strength is 14,122 psi on a 1,227,111 psi modulus - the stiffest unfilled-matrix PEEK here - flexural strength 23,642 psi, compressive strength 20,712 psi and hardness Rockwell M102, with surface resistivity of 5.2 x 10^15 ohms per square and a UL 94 V-0 rating. White and grey are both supplied with the same properties; grey is chosen where a white surface would throw reflections into an optical or vision system. Two things to note: notched Izod is 0.66 ft-lb/in, so it is brittle, and it is a dense grade - about a quarter heavier than unfilled PEEK, which shows up in freight.
