PEEK HPV Bearing Grade Rod

Polyetheretherketone

Carbon-fibre PEEK with graphite and PTFE lubricants, positioned as the lowest-friction and best-machining of the bearing grades. 0.21 dynamic friction and a 20,000 psi-ft/min limiting PV. Heat deflection is 383F, lower than the other bearing PEEKs - check it before substituting.

  • HPV is carbon-fibre-reinforced PEEK carrying graphite and PTFE lubricants - the same three-filler bearing package as the other tribological PEEKs, in the formulation its maker positions as having the lowest friction and the best machinability of the range. Dynamic friction against steel is 0.21 dry and the published limiting PV is 20,000 psi-ft/min, already derated by a 4:1 safety factor. Tensile strength is 11,000 psi on an 850,000 psi modulus, flexural strength 27,500 psi on a 1,100,000 psi flexural modulus, compressive strength 20,000 psi at 10% strain and hardness Rockwell M85.

It is machined into bushings, bearings, wear rings, seals and back-up rings for unlubricated service, and it is supplied in fixed stock lengths rather than cut to order. Heat deflection temperature at 264 psi is 383F, which is markedly lower than the other bearing PEEKs - check it against your service temperature before substituting. Surface resistivity is at or below 10^4 ohms per square, so it is effectively conductive and will not serve as an insulator. No food-contact or medical approvals are published.
