TECANAT® MT Rod

Polycarbonate
Water-clear healthcare-grade polycarbonate with the impact resistance and ductility that make it standard for transparent pressure-bearing parts - filter bowls, sight glasses, separation chambers and manifolds. Biocompatibility assessed to ISO 10993 and USP Class VI, gamma and E-beam sterilizable, FDA 21 CFR 177.1580 compliant.

  • TECANAT® MT is a medical-grade polycarbonate produced from healthcare-grade resin - an amorphous, transparent thermoplastic with the impact resistance and practical ductility that make polycarbonate the default when a clear part also has to take a hit. Light transmission index is 88, and the natural grade is water clear rather than blue-tinted, so fluid color and level read accurately through the wall. It offers very good dimensional stability with low creep, which is what allows tight-tolerance machining of sealing faces, bores and threads, and it holds those dimensions in service because polycarbonate picks up very little moisture.

Typical parts are filter bowls and reservoirs, sight glasses, collection and separation chambers, manifolds, fluid-handling housings and machine guards for medical and laboratory equipment. Biocompatibility has been assessed according to ISO 10993 and USP Class VI, and the material complies with FDA 21 CFR 177.1580. It is compatible with gamma and E-beam sterilization; autoclave exposure is limited to roughly 1 to 10 cycles at 121°C, so it is not a repeat-autoclave material. Machine with sharp, high-rake tooling and light feeds, and anneal after roughing - polycarbonate is notch-sensitive and prone to environmental stress cracking. Avoid alkalis, ammonia, ketones and chlorinated solvents, including solvent-based cleaners; scratch resistance is also modest.
