Clear Acrylic Carving With A Dental Drill

Dorothy and Al Hanson have been buying blanks of 3/4″ thick clear acrylic to use for a very novel art form.  Al is a retired high school industrial arts teacher who learned how to carve intricate designs, particularly flowers into the back of clear acrylic with a dental drill.

After the piece is finished being carved from the back, Al puts colored powder the cavity to create more contrast within the clear acrylic.
