At Colorado Plastics, your safety is our top priority. That’s why, in line with new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, we no longer offer methylene chloride–based solvent adhesives for consumer use. These products, once common in plastic bonding, have been shown to pose serious health risks when used without professional training and protective equipment.
You can read the EPA ruling on methylene chloride sales restrictions here: https://www.epa.gov/assessing-and-managing-chemicals-under-tsca/risk-management-methylene-chloride
Methylene chloride vapors can be harmful if inhaled and may cause dizziness, nausea, organ damage, or even sudden accidents in unventilated spaces. The EPA has determined that consumer use carries too much risk, especially since many projects are completed indoors where proper ventilation is difficult.
We are currently evaluating safer, EPA-approved replacement adhesives to determine which options will best meet our customers’ needs. Our goal is to offer products that deliver the strength you expect without the hidden dangers. For professional and industrial users, specialized solutions remain available under strict safety guidelines.
By following these new rules, we’re helping protect our customers, their families, and the environment. We appreciate your understanding and will provide updates as soon as replacement adhesives are ready for purchase.
